Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Physiology named after Academician Abdulla Garayev of ANAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Ahmad Hajiyev is 70 years old.
A.Hajiyev is one of the well-known scientists in the field of biophysics in the republic, started his research activity at the Scientific Center for Biological Research of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and then continued it at the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. A sincere, kind, noble and humble scientist, he devoted almost his entire life to science.
Ahmad Hajiyev was born on November 20, 1950 in Jabrayil region in a family of servants. In 1968, he graduated from the high school named after Maxim Gorky in the center of the district with a gold medal.Then he entered the Faculty of Physics of the Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University).
After successfully graduating from the Department of Molecular Physics in 1973, he began his career as a laboratory assistant at the same department.
He moved to Baku in July 1990 and was appointed to the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan by agreement between the directors. Until 1996, he worked in the laboratory of physical and chemical properties of cell membranes of the same institute, first as a senior researcher, then as a leading researcher. In 1996, on the basis of the decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, he transferred to the former Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, where he served as scientific secretary and then director until 1998. Based on the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, in connection with the merger of institutes, in 1998 he transferred to the Institute of Physiology named after Abdulla Garayev, where he was appointed head of the newly established Laboratory of Biophysics of Cellular Metabolism. Professor Ahmad Hajiyev, who is celebrating his 70th birthday these days, continues his scientific activity. As the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Physiology named after Academician Abdulla Garayev, where he works, he does his best to make new contributions to the science of Azerbaijan.
