The world's largest online encyclopedia Wikipedia has updated information on the history, goals, objectives and activities of the first science.az website of Azerbaijan.

Being the largest source of scientific news in Azerbaijan, science.az, which has a special place in the country's press, is constantly improving its activities. The portal also reflects the latest news in the global scientific community.

The article, created by volunteers of the Wikipedia Methodological Center of the Central Scientific Library, notes that science.az began its activities in 1995 at the ANAS Institute of Information Technology under the address www.ab.az.

It was noted that the portal science.az, which has been functioning at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS since 2003, was included in the structure of the Public Relations and Science Promotion Office of the ANAS Presidium in 2014. After the corresponding structural changes in 2019, the office was renamed the Department of Public Relations, Press and Information, and Aghahuseyn Shukurov, Ph.D. in Philology, was appointed head of the department. Currently, science.gov.az is managed by the Electronic Information Sector of this Department.

The material notes that sience.az acts as an intermediary in establishing links and strengthening international cooperation between scientists engaged in scientific activities at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and well-known scientific organizations of the world. Over the years of its activity to popularize domestic science, the portal has become one of the most reliable sources of information in the country. This resource, which continues to successfully cover the activities of ANAS, is also the first school of online journalism in our country.
