In connection with the global coronavirus pandemic, the World Health Organization has claimed the development of vaccines and drugs against the pandemic in more than 50 countries.

Senior researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS Ayten Agayeva spoke to RealTV about the study of the coronavirus, measures to combat it and the development of vaccines. She said that it is still unknown when the process of developing these antiviral drugs will be completed.

Currently research on coronavirus in the world is carried out in two directions: first, the development of new vaccines, and secondly, the development of various antiviral drugs, she added.

Even the common flu virus mutates every year, its surface proteins change. Research shows that because the coronavirus has mutated over the years, the human immune system is struggling to fight it, Agayeva noted.

According to the US National Institutes of Health, the first vaccine has already been tested on humans, that the vaccine is planned to go on sale by the end of the year.

The interviewee also said that Australian scientists conducted a 48-hour laboratory study to develop an anti-coronavirus drug: “According to the results of the study, microscopic analysis showed that the new drug destroyed the coronavirus.
