With the participation of employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of ANAS, an online event dedicated to May 28 - Republic Day was held.

Opening the event, organized on the Zoom platform, ANAS vice-president, director of the IMBB academician Irada Huseynova congratulated the institute staff on this significant day, inscribed in golden letters in the history of the struggle of our people for freedom and independence. The academician noted that May 28, 1918 is the day when every citizen of Azerbaijan experiences a sense of national pride. On this day, for the first time in the East, the world announced the creation of a free, democratic, independent republic based on secular values.

I. Huseynova said that this freedom has become the fruit of the struggle of our people, the thinking of our outstanding intellectuals, led by Muhammed Amin Rasulzadeh. The scientist emphasized that after the restoration of independence in the new historical conditions, our people, under the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev, created an independent Azerbaijan state based on the traditions of the People Republic. However, unlike the Azerbaijan People Republic, he managed to maintain and strengthen his independence and sovereignty in a difficult situation, decisive measures were taken to protect statehood, and strong social and political stability was restored in the country.

“Today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the process of building a democratic, legal, secular state and civil society in Azerbaijan is successfully continuing,” I. Huseynova said. She noted that the country has successfully carried out political, economic and social reforms, the country's economy has been developed, and important measures have been taken to strengthen social protection of the population.
