07.07.2020 / Important events The project, coordinated by academician Fikret Aliyev, became the winner in the international grant competition for the “Horizon 2020” program

A project entitled “Spectral Optimization: From Mathematics to Physics and High Technology” (SOMPATY - Spectral Optimization: From Mathematics to Physics and Advanced Technology), submitted to the international grant program “Horizon 2020” together with foreign colleagues, partners of which are employees of Mechanics and Mathematics of the faculty and the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University (BSU), was declared the winner of the competition.

The project, which will be implemented under the coordination of the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany), is funded by the European Commission. The participants in the program are the respective structures of Germany, the Czech Republic and Ukraine, and partners are the structures of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The goal is the exchange of personnel between higher schools and research centers of the participating countries and partner countries, the conduct of joint research and the organization of trainings.

Azerbaijan is represented in the project by the director of the BSU Research Institute of Applied Mathematics, academician Fikret Aliyev (project coordinator for Azerbaijan), academic secretary of this institute, associate professor Nargiz Safarova, senior researcher, associate professor Gamar Mammadova, leading scientific associate Nazil Hajiyev, dean of the Mechanics and Mathematics faculty, professor Nizamaddin Iskenderov, associate professor of the chair “Computational Mathematics” Elvin Azizbeyov, employee of the chair “Mathematical Methods of Control Theory” Aysel Ramazanova.

The project began on April 1 and will end on March 31, 2024. The project budget is 883,200 euros, the funding scheme is based on the program named after Maria Skłodowska-Curie “Research and Innovation Staff Exchange” (Research and Innovation Staff Exchange).
