Сoniferous trees over 40 years old in some areas dry up as shown observations carried out in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula.
Working group was created from specialists from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agency for Food Safety, and the Economic Association for Landscaping Executive power of the city of Baku and the Central Botanical Garden of ANAS for to find out the reasons for the drying up of trees and assess the phytosanitary state as said the director of the Central Botanical Garden of ANAS, Doctor of Biological Sciences Vahid Farzaliyev.
"The working group carried out monitoring on the territory of Baku and the Absheron peninsula. Large number of coniferous trees, in particular the Eldar pine, cypress Leylandi and evergreen cypresses were found to dry out or almost completely dry out during monitoring in the northern and southern parts of the Bayil slope, on Sergei Yesenin street in the Mardakan village, in various areas of the Buzovna village, on Ashig Molla Juma street in Narimanov district, in parks and gardens in the Nizami district".
According to V. Farzaliyev, samples from their trunks, leaves and soil cover were taken and sent to the laboratory for appropriate analyzes in order to find out the reason for the drying up of trees.
