Recently, Grigory M. Palatnikov, Ph.D., the head of the laboratory "Ecotoxicology" of the Institute of Physiology of the ANAS, at a meeting of the Presidium of the International Academy of Sciences of Ecology and Life Safety, associated with the UN Department of Public Information, was awarded the Medal n.a. M.V. Lomonosov for his significant contribution to the development of possible ways and means of solving some environmental problems and safety issues.
It should be noted that since May 2018, Palatnikov is a academician of this Academy. The Academy was founded in 1995 with the aim of bringing together scientists and professionals involved in solving problems in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The Presidium of the Academy is located in St. Petersburg. The honorary members of the Academy are Zhores Ivanovich Alferov, Alexander Isaevich Solzhenitsyn (Nobel laureates), Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova, Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky, and others.
Palatnikov has been working at the institute for more than 40 years, and his work is mainly related to the study of the effects of oil pollution on the central nervous system and the behavior of fish, as well as the genotoxic effects of various pollutants.
