On June 12, the Oguzhan University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan hosted the international plenary online conference “Science, technology and innovative technologies in the era of power and happiness.”

The event was attended by the first vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibragim Guliev, president of Georgian National Academy of Sciences academician Georgy Kvesitadze, president of the Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences academician Murat Jumatayev, first deputy chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus academician Sergei Chizhik, vice-president of the Latvian Academy of Sciences academician Andres Krasnikovs, as well as scientists from Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, South Korea and Japan.

Speaking at a conference on the “Prospects of the Caspian Sea: Azerbaijani-Turkmen cooperation,” academician Ibrahim Guliyev said that relations between the two countries are based on historical, ethnic and religious traditions. Recalling that after the Second World War, Azerbaijani-Turkmen cooperation reached a new level, the speaker noted that at that time our scientists were searching for new oil fields in the Kazakh, Russian and Iranian waters of the Caspian. I. Guliyev noted that Azerbaijani experts have been conducting seismic surveys in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea since the 1950s, and as a result of the efforts of our geologists and oil workers, five new oil and gas fields were discovered in the country. He noted that Azerbaijani scientists played an important role in developing the great scientific potential of Turkmenistan. The scientist recalled the role of academician Ashraf Alizadeh in creating the Department of Geology at Turkmen State University.

According to him, since the 1970s, the scope of research by Azerbaijani scientists has expanded to the shores of the Black and Azov Seas, India, Vietnam, Syria, Algeria, Angola and Cuba. Academician Ibrahim Guliyev said that the results achieved in the 1990s regarding the potential of the Caspian Sea were presented at international events, adding that scientific ties with all countries of the region were restored and strengthened.

The First Vice President recalled that the Caspian Summit was first held in 2002. Azerbaijan took part in the event with a delegation led by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and our specialists took an active part in this event. According to him, over the past period, the scope of Azerbaijani-Turkmen cooperation has expanded, and joint international conferences have been organized with the participation of our geologists and oil scientists. Recalling the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Turkmenistan and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan to our country, the academician said that about 40 official documents had been signed, including in the fields of science and education.

Academician I. Guliyev noted that cooperation documents were signed between ANAS and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, as well as the Institute of Literature and the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS and the relevant institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and joint research was conducted.

The ANAS First Vice-President announced the holding of an international scientific conference "Science without Borders: Prospects for the Caspian Sea" in Baku in 2021, adding that discussions will be held at the event to develop a concept for solving scientific problems.

Following lectures - “Microorganisms and plants - detoxifiers of organic pollutants”, “The main directions and achievements of research of the Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan”, “International scientific and technical cooperation of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus” have been listened at the online conference.
